Montero1 wrote: Is there a linetype available that has a built in flow arrow? (see attached) Currently I lay out my flow diagrams and add the flow arrow direction as a block. I think I can create a custom line type, but if there's already one out there that someone would like to share, of course you'll get full credit for your time saving tool. I just jumped from 2006 to 2009.
Perhaps one is built into 2009? If so, I haven't found it yet. Thanks - I have attached A zip with three. If you have problems with UT or Broken line, let me know and I will hunt for the shape for them. The LINEWITHARROWHEAD also includes the shape for it (arrowhead.shx).

I'm trying to create a stable linetype with Arrows to show a flow path. I created one by hatching an arrow along a polyline and then exploding hatch, worked for a while and now it isn't, I never closed out of the drawing and it just dissapeared. Either way, what is the best way to create the above mentioned linetype?? I know that under wingding's #3 font, 'letter A' is an arrow that I like, but when I try defining the linetype with this insert among the polyline it filters out the letters. I'm getting pretty frustrated, any help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance, ee. Thanks in advance, ee You will either need to create a linetype definition using a shape or a font (Wingdings, as you mentioned) Linetype creation is throughly covered in the customization guide. Some more tips here: For a finished solution, see: - R.K. McSwain You can also use the Express Tools 'Make Shape' and 'Make Linetype'. I'd use a widened PLine arrow for the shape. I had a default pline width of 1', added arrow throughout with pline segments with different begin and end widths.
Defined this and used, it looked just like a continuous line type. I also tried the express with defining a shape and inserting the shapes among the line and defining. Worked fine for a while, then I lost my shapes. The arrows went back to a line, with weight 0. Maybe I just needed to reload my shape file?
But the thing is I never closed out of the drawing, just restored a layer state, which I had edited to not include line types, so it shouldn't have affected the new custom linetype. From what I've read it seems that the stable way to create a line type is with Text, and with the fonts we have today you can basically insert any type of shape, using font's like Wingdings. I've yet to try it, but I think I will just edit the.lin file through note book and see what happens. Eemery56 said the following on 2/16/2006 8:10 AM: That's what I tried and it didn't work. See attachment. McSwain I like the bottom one, which I assume is the shape. I just recalled that I saved the shape file and linetype file in two different locations, could that have an affect?
Also, how can you create a solid fill shape? I had problems with it filtering out solid hatches.
Descargar Musica Arabe Moderna Mp3 Player. I used a criss cross hatch, super small scale and then exploded this to create individual entities. That was the only way I could resemble a solid arrow. Sorry if these aren't great questions, but I'm new to this customizing thing, as are all the others in my office, they do everything manually. Like copying an arrow/leader 200 times and placing it along a line and rotating. I knew there had to be a better way and am trying to explore it, though it is hard because I don't get paid for exploring!

You may have done this but I'll go over the step quickly to see if it helps. First draw a Pline to represent the arrow. Start with a width of 0 at the first point and end with a width appropriate to the scales you work with. Define the pline as a shape. Make sure you save the shape file in a directory that AutoCAD paths to. Like Support. Draw a Line the length you want 1 linesegment to be.
Inset the shape onto the line. Define the linetype using Make Linetype.
I don't know if a PLine will work for the definition. I've always used lines. Allen wrote in message news:[email protected]. That's what I tried and it didn't work. Eemery, Here is the easy way out, just add the following to your '.lin' file:.FLDIR,Flow Direction - A.5,ZIG,ltypeshp.shx,S=.05,R=270,X=.05,Y=.05.0625,0.0625,0.0625,0.0625.FLDIR2,Flow Direction (.5X) - A.25,ZIG,ltypeshp.shx,S=.05,R=270,X=.05,Y=.05.0313,0.0313,0.0313,0.0313.FLDIRX2,Flow Direction (2x)- A,1,ZIG,ltypeshp.shx,S=.05,R=270,X=.05,Y=.05.125,0.125,0.125,0.125 HTH. Don, And 'A' escapes me just now.
Maybe someone else could provide it's definition in this case. Post navigation.
